How Do I Sign Up for ARHealthNetworks?

If you qualify for ARHealthNetworks, you must sign up through a licensed insurance agent. The two best ways to find an agent who can see if you qualify are to:

  1. Contact ARHealthNetworks by phone or email
  2. Check out the Agent Search to find an agent in your area.

You must also enroll for ARHealthNetworks through a business that you own or through an employer that meets certain qualifications. Not all employers qualify to sponsor enrollment through ARHealthNetworks.

If your employer qualifies to sponsor ARHealthNetworks, then all full-time employees must enroll, unless they are already covered through a spouse or through an individual policy.

  • ARHealthNetworks is available only to employers who have not offered a group health plan to their employees within the past 12 months or longer.
  • Employers must have at least one full-time employee (30 hours per week), but not more than 500.
  • At least one enrolled employee must meet the income qualifications which are based on total household income and family size.

Employee Eligibility

  • All employees who work more than 30 hours per week on average are considered full-time and will need to enroll.
  • The monthly cost is $25 for employees who meet the following qualifications:
    • Must live in Arkansas
    • Must be between the ages of 19-64
    • Must be a US Citizen or have a Permanent Resident Card for at least 5 years
    • Must meet income and household size requirements
  • The monthly cost is $275 for employees who wish to enroll, but do not meet the qualifications to get the $25 monthly cost.

Self-Employed Eligibility

Self Employed Individuals must:

  • Own a business in the state of Arkansas (that has been in business for at least 2 months)
  • Work at least 30 hours a week on average in their occupation
  • Reside in the state of Arkansas
  • Be a United States Citizen (or equivalent ie. Naturalized Citizen, Green Card that is at least 5 years old)
  • Have a qualifying income level
  • Be able to provide necessary business documents
  • Be between the ages of 19-64
  • Not have the Arkansas State or School employee benefits available to them
  • Not have had a major medical insurance policy within the last 12 months

If these requirements are met, the individual would qualify for a $35/month policy with the same benefits afforded to those in the Small Group Policy.

Other Considerations

The following are additional considerations regarding ARHealthNetworks eligibility:

  • Spouses are eligible for coverage at the same cost as the employee; spouses are not required to enroll.
  • Employees that do not reside in Arkansas or those that are not U.S. Citizens may enroll at the $275 monthly cost, but are not required to enroll.
  • Employers must commit to enroll all eligible new hires after at least a 90 day waiting period.
  • 100% of the full-time employees that qualify for the $25 monthly cost must participate unless they provide evidence of other group or individual health coverage.
  • 50% of the full-time employees that qualify for the $275 monthly cost must participate unless they provide evidence of other group or individual health coverage.

All employees enrolled in the plan are entitled to receive immediate benefits with no waiting period upon the effective date of the group, usually the first of the month after the member receives their ARHealthNetworks ID cards. Benefits will be available to everyone in the group regardless of any pre-existing medical conditions.
